Nutrition Guidance in 30 Seconds a Day

Set a goal — cut, maintain, bulk or recomp — and Pick It Up builds the guidance around it. If you are not sure which goal you want, a short questionnaire works it out with you.

After that the whole daily obligation is a 30-second check-in. No calorie counting. No macro counting.

Your morning, in full

  1. 1Weigh in.
  2. 2How did you sleep last night?
  3. 3How hungry were you yesterday?

Pick a Goal, Then Check In Each Morning

Four goals to choose between. If you are not sure which one you want, a short questionnaire works it out with you.

Cut

Take body weight down.

Maintain

Hold body weight where it is.

Bulk

Take body weight up.

Recomp

Convert fat into muscle while keeping total body weight roughly steady.

Why every morning

A single morning's weight is close to meaningless on its own. Water, salt, stress and sleep all move it, and none of those is the thing you are trying to measure.

Daily entries are what make a weekly average trustworthy. Your sleep, hunger, and progress in resistance training are what determine what changes you need to make, if any.

What you get back

Pick It Up reads your weekly averages and trends from your daily check-ins, as well as assessing how your resistance training is going.

Then it gives guidance on what to change, if anything. An ideal, and often underrated, recommendation is to change nothing at all.

It Reads Your Training, Not Only the Scale

Weigh-ins on their own tell you one thing: which way body weight moved. Pick It Up also has every set you have logged, and it reads the two together.

That matters most when it looks like a cut is failing. If the scale has barely moved in eight days then the obvious instruction would be to eat less.

Read the training data next to it, however, and the guidance could look quite different. If your body weight is declining slightly but the weights on the barbell are going up, then the cut is working — the instruction is to change nothing.

Changing nothing is the best possible outcome, and it is only reachable by looking at the training and body weight numbers together.

Calorie & Protein Guidance, Without the Tedious Counting

Based on your weigh-ins and training data, Pick It Up gives you calorie guidance like “decrease calories by about 250 a day, the equivalent of one large slice of bread with butter” or “change nothing, you’re doing great”. It also gives you a protein floor in grams.

  • No macro counting

You do not need to carefully track macros.

  • No calorie counting

No daily budget to log against, and no food diary to keep.

  • Get results, not complexity

A 30-second weigh-in and check-in each morning, then on with your life.

Thirty seconds a day, and no counting

Set a goal, check in each morning, and let Pick It Up read your weigh-ins and your training together.
